Andrew is an experienced and respected criminal defence, civil and commercial counsel.
He has an extensive criminal defence practice, which spans a wide spectrum of matters, including commercial, financial and business crime, money laundering, fraud and corruption, drug offences, physical and violent crimes and other miscellaneous offences.
His civil and commercial litigation practice includes advising and representing individuals in contractual and commercial disputes, asset recovery, negligence, cyber security and technology-related disputes.
With his experience in both criminal and civil litigation, Andrew also regularly advises and represents individuals and corporations in relation to investigations and regulatory matters.
Andrew graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2017. As an undergraduate, he participated in actively in local and international mooting competitions. Most notably, he was part of the team that reached the Quarterfinals of the prestigious Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in 2017, where he won Honourable Mentions in every category of award available.
In 2018, Andrew passed the Singapore Bar Examinations as joint-4th out of 658 candidates. He received two distinctions and was awarded Best Student in Ethics and Professional Responsibility.
Andrew has been with Drew & Napier since 2018, when he joined the firm as a trainee.
Andrew has an extensive criminal defence, civil and commercial litigation practice. Some of the matters which Andrew has acted in include:
- Representing Vang Shuiming, one of the ten individuals charged in relation to the landmark “S$3 billion money laundering” case, with assets of nearly S$210 million seized.
- Representing a key trader involved in the “Penny Stock Crash”, where almost S$8 billion in the market value of shares in three companies was erased in October 2013.
- Represented Oh Yew Lee, a Singaporean sentenced to the death penalty for drug trafficking. Secured an acquittal, retrial and non-capital sentence on appeal on the basis of potential issues in the chain of custody of drug exhibits.
- Successfully represented Razer in a highly technical suit arising from its security vendor’s breach of contractual duties and negligence in misconfiguring Razer’s Linux-based customer database (leading to a data leak involving the data of nearly 147,000 customers worldwide).
- Successfully represented Mr Bert Wong Sung Boon, former Managing Director of Fuji Xerox Singapore in a wrongful dismissal suit, with damages in excess of S$1.4 million awarded.
