Drew Wins Impact Deal and Case of the Year Award at Asialaw Awards 2022/23

We are pleased to announce that Drew & Napier is the winner of the Impact Deal and Case Award at the Asialaw Awards 2022/23 for our work on the Hin Leong Trading Insolvency matter.
A total of 16 lawyers worked in two separate teams on different aspects of the matter.
- Directors Cavinder Bull, SC and Chia Voon Jiet, and their team, comprising Associate Directors Fiona Chew and Sim Bing Wen, Senior Associate Sean Tan, and Associates Belle Tan and Nicholas Chng, are acting for the liquidators of Hin Leong Trading (Pte.) Ltd (in compulsory liquidation) (“Hin Leong”), seeking recovery of over US$3.5 billion from the directors of the company.
- Director Sushil Nair and his team, comprising Directors Renu Menon, Pauline Chong, Lau Sok Hiang, Mohan Gopalan and Teri Cheng, Associate Director Benjamin Ng, Senior Associate Eleanor Pang, and Associate Zeng Yu, are advising the informal steering committee of lenders (to Hin Leong) on the potential debt restructuring of Hin Leong.
We are also delighted to share that the Malaysian pillar firm of Drew Network Asia (DNA), Shearn Delamore & Co., has also been named Malaysia Firm of the Year.
The Asialaw Awards celebrates domestic and regional law firms across 23 jurisdictions, 11 legal expertise categories and 7 industry expertise categories. Their research is conducted over the course of months, including extensive interviews with partners and surveys completed by their clients, to identify leading lawyers and firms. All winners have been judged on innovation, complexity and impact.
