Drew named Employer of Choice for the 12th Year by Asian Legal Business

Drew has been named an Employer of Choice in Singapore for the 12th year by Asian Legal Business (ALB) in its annual survey on the region’s best law firms to work for. Drew has received this accolade more times than any firm in Singapore.

Launched in 2008, the Employer of Choice survey is open to employees of law firms, from the paralegal level right up to managing partner, and includes non-legal roles as well. It quizzes respondents on a variety of issues, ranging from career prospects within their firm to mentorship opportunities and work-life balance. The firms that made the list were selected not only on the number of recommendations, but also the quality.

In its accompanying feature, ALB asked our Director Kelvin Tan the keys to keeping employees engaged in the past year where Covid-19 forced governments to impose lock downs and many employees had to work from home for long periods.

Kelvin said, “In a uniquely challenging year, we have done well and have continued to work with the same quality and intensity as we have always done. A big part of this is the really excellent, focused, and driven members whom we are fortunate to have in our firm. But I think it is also important that we have invested trust, welcomed flexibility, and empowered every individual to get things done in a way that makes sense for them. Mentorship and training, which have always been hallmarks of our firm but which take more effort to achieve virtually, remain a key priority. And we have made sure to be watchful of the well-being of every member of the Drew family. For example, the pandemic situation has created its own stress points, and we have made it a point to remind everyone to delineate work and personal time and take leave to rest and recharge. The prize from all this is that our firm has continued to grow – in the number of lawyers and their appetite and desire to meet whatever challenges lie ahead.”
