Cavinder Bull, SC re-appointed as Vice-President of the SIAC Court of Arbitration

Cavinder Bull, SC, has been re-appointed as Vice-President of the SIAC Court of Arbitration. The term of appointment is from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2021.
Cavinder has held this appointment since April 2013. He was formerly Deputy Chairman of the SIAC Board of Directors from October 2010 to April 2017. Cavinder is also a Governing Board member of ICCA, Vice-President of the Asia-Pacific Regional Arbitration Group, and is on the World Bank Sanctions Board.
Over the past decade, the SIAC’s new case filings have quadrupled, along with an increasing total sum in dispute that exceeds S$9 billion, according to the SIAC’s 2018 Annual Report.
Cavinder has a strong track record in International Arbitration, both in commercial and investor-state disputes. In particular, he has presided over investor-state cases at ICSID, the PCA and under NAFTA.
Cavinder’s most recent accolades include being named “Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year” at the Asia Legal Business SE Asia Law Awards 2019, “Disputes Star of the Year, Singapore” at the Asialaw & Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific Dispute Resolution Awards 2018, and being identified as a Thought Leader for Arbitration by the Who’s Who Legal publication for the past 3 years. Drew & Napier’s International Arbitration group has also been ranked amongst the top practices in the world by Global Arbitration Review.
