19 Aug 2026

Jimmy Yim, SC, Foo Yuet Min, Blossom Hing and Randolph Khoo co-authored the first Singapore chapter in the Global Arbitration Review (GAR) Know-How: Commercial Arbitration 2026.

The chapter provides a comprehensive overview of commercial arbitration in Singapore. It examines key aspects of the legal and institutional framework, including Singapore’s obligations under international treaties such as the New York Convention and ICSID, as well as the statutory regime governing arbitration under the International Arbitration Act. It also covers practical issues relating to arbitration agreements and proceedings, including the requirements for valid and enforceable arbitration clauses, the scope of arbitrable disputes, the role of arbitral institutions and the interaction between arbitral tribunals and the Singapore courts.

GAR Know-How: Commercial Arbitration is an online cross-comparative resource offering a detailed coverage of arbitration laws and practices in 39 jurisdictions. It features Q&A-style chapters written by leading practitioners worldwide. It enables users to compare how key issues in commercial arbitration are addressed across multiple jurisdictions and to build tailored reports based on specific areas of interest. The 2026 edition introduces the inaugural Singapore chapter in the guide.
