An Overview and Developments of the Variable Capital Companies (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill

The Variable Capital Companies (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill was introduced for first reading in the Singapore Parliament on 5 August 2019, and seeks to amend, inter alia, the Goods and Services Tax Act (Cap. 117A), the Income Tax Act (Cap. 134) and the Stamp Duties Act (Cap. 312) so as to introduce a tax framework for VCCs which are incorporated under the Variable Capital Companies Act 2018.  The Bill received its second and third reading on 3 September 2019. This update discusses the key features of the bill and its other developments.
