Alex has an active disputes practice. His counsel and representation are increasingly sought after by many. Alex routinely advises on commercial matters, private client matters and employment matters. He has represented clients before the Singapore Courts and international arbitral tribunals. Clients include multinational corporations, SMEs, C-suite and high net worth individuals.

Clients prize Alex for his unflinchingly clear-eyed analysis of their key commercial and personal interests in any dispute, as well as his pragmatic and strategic insights. Since joining Drew, he has been praised by clients for being “very smart in his moves”, “excellent” and “efficient”.  

Alex actively pursues his keen interest in the technology issues shaping our times, including artificial intelligence, crypto, blockchain and digital assets. Alex collaborates with industry figures as well as academics, including contributing thought pieces and speaking at events. He has also obtained a certification in digital assets. Alex believes that there is a need to go deep into understanding the technology and industry dynamics at play, instead of merely dispensing surface-level legal advice divorced from reality.

A highly energetic, personable and dynamic lawyer, Alex gives back to society by volunteering with the Singapore Mentorship Committee. This involves mentoring university and college students, with the hope of fostering the leaders of tomorrow.

Alex graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2013 with 2nd Class (Upper) Honours in 2013 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2014.

Some of the matters that Alex has handled include the following:

  • Successfully resisted an application for Springboard injunction brought against a client in the Singapore High Court in the field of commodities futures trading.
  • Acted for and advised in matrimonial proceedings involving a tycoon family, and successfully obtaining various interim maintenance, discovery and interrogatories orders on behalf of the client.
  • Acted for and advised an NYSE-listed global consultancy company on various employment law issues arising from the on-boarding of a key new hire in the Asia-Pacific region, including the enforceability of post-employment restrictive covenants asserted by the ex-employer.
  • Represented tycoon-controlled vehicles in a Singapore High Court suit against an international bank for claims in excess of S$100 million arising from unwinding of accumulators.
  • Successfully applied for interim judicial management orders from the Singapore High Court over subsidiaries of a prominent Singapore-listed company.
