Seasoned Oil & Gas lawyer Chua Tju Liang returns to Drew & Napier

We are pleased to announce that seasoned corporate lawyer, Chua Tju Liang re-joins Drew & Napier today as an Equity Director.  He is a significant addition to our Oil & Gas practice, as well as our Technology practices. 

Tju Liang began his career at Drew & Napier in 2001 but left to join Vinson & Elkins in Shanghai where he made partner, and gained in-depth expertise in oil & gas transactions. Tju Liang subsequently returned to Singapore joining Sidley & Austin as a partner. He re-joins us having acquired more than a decade of experience advising on some of the most significant oil & gas M&A deals in Asia and the Americas. He regularly counsels clients on industry-specific transactions such as Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and crude oil sales agreements, drilling services agreements, joint operating agreements (JOAs) and production sharing contracts (PSCs).

Tju Liang also has extensive knowledge of the ever-evolving legal and regulatory landscape of blockchain, distributed ledger technology and cryptocurrencies. His clients include funds, strategic investors and startups in this sector. In addition, Tju Liang serves as the global General Counsel of the Ethereum Foundation, the non-profit organisation that promotes and supports the Ethereum blockchain ecosystem. With a market cap of US$18 billion, Ethereum is the second largest cryptocurrency globally, after bitcoin.

Tju Liang has been recognised as a "Recommended Lawyer" by Asia Pacific Legal 500, an “Up and Coming Individual” by Chambers Global and a “Rising Star Lawyer” by IFLR1000. Clients complimented his “exceptional negotiation skills” and praised him as “clearly a really smart guy”.
