Drew is recognised yet again as an Employer of Choice (EOC) in Singapore by Asian Legal Business (ALB) for the 16th year in its annual survey on the region’s top law firms to work for.

Since the launch of this survey in 2008, the number of times we received this accolade is more than any other firm in Singapore.

The Employer of Choice survey is open to all law firm employees, from paralegals to managing partners, including non-legal roles. The survey covers key areas such as career opportunities, mentorship programs, and work-life balance.

In ALB’s accompanying EOC feature article, regarding mentorship, Director Adam Maniam said, “The high level of interaction between team leaders and associates means that team leaders are able to closely monitor their associates’ well-being and career development. At the same time, associates also have direct access to mentors in the team who can provide guidance and support. All of this is invaluable in managing the mental health of associates navigating their way through the first few years of legal practice.

In relation to the challenges of burn out, Adam said that Drew & Napier has implemented a distinctive team system that strongly enhances the firm’s ability to balance productivity with mental health. “Instead of being part of a general pool and working for many different partners, our young lawyers predominantly work with one team leader and his/her team,” Adam explains. “Managing mental health inevitably involves managing employee workloads. A team system enables us to do this effectively because team leaders have full and up-to-date visibility on how heavy an employee’s workload is and whether it needs to be adjusted.”

The feature also noted that Drew & Napier’s success in balancing employee wellbeing with professional excellence is reflected in our achievements. “This is the 16th year that the firm has won the ALB Employer of Choice Award, no easy feat for a law firm," Adam said. He adds the firm has seen former trainees rise to prestigious positions, with “one of our ex-lawyers appointed as as a Judicial Commissioner while another was appointed Senior Counsel.”
