Director Lau Sok Hiang re-appointed as member of Valuation Review Board by Ministry of Finance

Co-Head of Drew & Napier’s Real Estate and Corporate Real Estate Practice Group, Lau Sok Hiang has been re-appointed by the Ministry of Finance as a member of the Valuation Review Board (VRB) for a period of 3 years with effect from 1 July 2026.
 
The re-appointment recognises her deep expertise in real estate and property matters, which she will continue to bring to the Board in hearing and determining appeals.
 
VRB is one of the Tax Boards under the Ministry, and is an administrative tribunal established under Section 23 of the Property Tax Act to adjudicate disputes between taxpayers and the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore. It hears appeals from the decisions of the Chief Assessor and the Comptroller of Property Tax. 
 
Aside from its primary responsibility, board members may also be appointed by the Chairman to constitute a Valuation Review Panel to hear and determine disputes between property owners and their tenants concerning the passing on of property tax rebates under Part 6 of the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020.
