Drew & Napier wins Commercial Litigation Law Firm of the Year and the Singapore Deal of the Year awards

27 May 2011

Leading law firm Drew & Napier has once again been named the Commercial Litigation Law Firm of the Year at the Asian Legal Business (ALB) Southeast Asia Law Awards 2011. This marks the seventh consecutive year that Drew has clinched this title since the inception of this award, a feat unmatched by any other law firm in Singapore.

On top of this, Drew & Napier also won the coveted Singapore Deal of the Year for the third time and Singapore M&A Deal of the Year for its significant role in the Khazanah/Fortis competing Takeover Offer for Parkway, which won both awards.

The firm acted for The Royal Bank of Scotland, N.V. Singapore Branch and Macquarie Capital (Singapore) Pte. Limited, the Joint Financial Advisers to RHC Healthcare Pte. Ltd (“RHC”), a vehicle owned RHC Holdings Private Limited and Fortis Healthcare Limited, in relation to RHC’s S$3.2 billion (US$2.33 billion) voluntary conditional cash offer to acquire all the issued and paid-up ordinary shares in Parkway Holdings Limited (“Parkway”). RHC’s offer was one of two competing offers for Parkway, the other being Khazanah Nasional Berhad’s offer.

Drew’s Managing Director of Dispute Resolution, Jimmy Yim, SC said, “We are humbled to be named Commercial Litigation Law Firm of the Year for the seventh consecutive year. Competition is very keen in the legal field so we appreciate this award greatly as it reflects the continued confidence our peers and clients have in our work. We are also pleased to receive recognition for our involvement in the Khazanah/Fortis competing Takeover Offer for Parkway deal and will work even harder and continue to provide the best service to our clients.”

The awards ceremony was held at the Fullerton Hotel on Friday, 27 May 2011.
