Drew & Napier gains regional recognition in Chambers Global 2021 rankings

22 Feb 2021

We are immensely pleased to announce that Drew & Napier is increasingly gaining regional recognition in the recently released Chambers & Partners Global 2021 rankings. We have received praise from clients, who have been quoted in the Guide saying: “Their reach throughout Asia is exceptional… They also know their way around other important legal centres like London and New York”.

The firm improved in its overall rankings for foreign expertise in India, where Chambers commends Drew for being “trusted by businesses” for our work in Dispute Resolution and we have an “established reputation” for handling complex, high-value arbitration.

The firm is ranked in Band 2 for International & Cross-Border Capabilities (Singapore and South East Asian Firms). This, coupled with the founding of Drew Network Asia (DNA) in March 2020, a blue chip regional network formed by three prominent South East Asian law firms, adds to our vision in acquiring a more tangible regional footprint for the firm. Chambers notes that we are “frequently sought out by international firms to work on the local or regional elements of substantial international mandates”.

Drew’s foreign expertise in Indonesia is particularly noted for the Corporate/M&A and Banking & Finance practices.

Our CEO, Cavinder Bull SC, is recognised as a Global Market Leader for Arbitration (International) and he has risen a band in the global-wide rankings”). He stands amongst other Queen Counsel (QC) and practitioners from leading international law firms. Drew is also recommended in the field of Arbitration (Domestic) for the 12th year running. Cavinder is also a Band 1 lawyer in the domestic rankings for Litigation and Arbitration for the 11th and 9th year respectively.

The areas in which Drew is recognised are:
  • India – Dispute Resolution (Expertise Based Abroad)
  • Indonesia – Corporate & Finance (International Firms) (Expertise Based Abroad)
  • Singapore – Banking & Finance (Foreign Expertise) (Indonesia); International & Cross Border Capabilities (Singapore and South East Asian Firms); Dispute Resolution: Arbitration (Foreign Expertise) (India)
  • Cavinder Bull, SC – Ranked as Global Market Leader in Arbitration (International)
  • Randolph Khoo – Foreign Expert for Dispute Resolution: (Arbitration), China; and Expert Based Abroad in Singapore for Dispute Resolution: Arbitration (International Firms), China
Foreign experts are lawyers who have specialist knowledge of a foreign jurisdiction (i.e. in a different jurisdiction from the one in which they are based). These individuals and teams are highly regarded for international and cross-border work.

These accolades add to our achievements in the Chambers Asia-Pacific 2021 guide, released in December 2020, as well as the Legal 500 Asia-Pacific guide, released in January 2021.
