Understanding the Circuit Breaker

On 3 April 2020, the Singapore government announced significantly stricter measures in limiting the spread of COVID-19 in Singapore. Referred to as a “circuit breaker” by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the measures will affect a host of businesses and employees.
In this legal update, we provide details of the Circuit Breaker and discuss the new measures in place, including the definition of “Essential” and Non-Essential” services, safe distancing measures, and several schemes targeted to aid businesses.
