Protection of society from online falsehoods and malicious acts

The Ministry of Law introduced the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Bill in Parliament on 1 Apr 2019. As stated in the Explanatory Statement to the Bill, the Act seeks to protect society against damage from online falsehoods created by malicious actors. 
 
The Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act 2019 was passed by Parliament on 8 May 2019 and gazetted on 25 Jun 2019.  It will come into operation on a date to be gazetted by the Minister.
