Directors Siraj Omar, SC and Allister Tan co-authored the Singapore chapter in the inaugural Legal 500 Country Comparative Guide: Insurance Disputes 2024.

The Singapore chapter offers readers with a pragmatic overview of the law and practice of insurance disputes law in Singapore, and addresses topics such as mechanisms for resolution of coverage disputes, alternative dispute resolution, pre-action protocols, court expertise, policy holder obligations, breach remedies and coverage implications.

The chapter also discusses the appeal process, information disclosure of policy holders, prohibited provisions in insurance contracts, limitations on insurer’s right on defences, and assessment of quantum, among others.

Siraj and Allister also shared their views on significant trends and developments in Singapore in recent years and the biggest growth areas in the insurance disputes sector.
