First edition of ASEAN Guide on AI Governance and Ethics released

On 2 February 2024, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) unveiled the ASEAN Guide on AI Governance and Ethics (“ASEAN AI Guide”) at the 4th ASEAN Digital Ministers Meeting held in Singapore. 

In this legal update, Head of TMT Lim Chong Kin, Director Cheryl Seah, and Senior Associate Mark Yeo summarise the 87-page ASEAN AI Guide and highlight the recommended steps/actions that organisations developing or deploying AI systems should take in their day-to-day operations, to give effect to the AI governance principles agreed to by the 10 ASEAN member states.
