Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) (Amendment) Bill 20 Feb 2012 This update discusses the recently introduced Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) (Amendment) Bill (“Bill”). The Bill seeks to give consumers additional rights to require retailers to repair or replace non-conforming goods at the time of delivery. Related amendments will also be made to the Hire-Purchase Act and the Road Traffic Act respectively, to align the implied terms under the Hire-Purchase Act with those under the Sale of Goods Act and the Supply of Goods Act and to facilitate the replacement of defective motor vehicles.
