The chapter provides an understanding of key legal issues that arise from investing in Singapore and to serve as a reference point for the key factors and considerations that should be evaluated prior to making a foreign investment here.

The Law and Practice section of the chapter covers a comprehensive overview of Singapore’s legal, regulatory and business landscape, covering aspects such as the legal system, regulatory framework for foreign direct investment, recent market trends, mergers and acquisition regulations, corporate governance standards and disclosure/reporting obligations.

The Trends and Developments section of the chapter discusses Singapore’s response to global challenges in an uncertain geopolitical and economic environment. It highlights regulatory measures such as mandatory sustainability reporting and the introduction of the Significant Investments Review Bill. It also outlines an overview of the economic outlook for 2024 in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
