Asian Business Law Institute launches its first publication, “Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgements in Asia”

10 Jan 2018

The Asian Business Law Institute (ABLI) has launched its first publication, “Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgements in Asia” in conjunction with the Opening of the Legal Year 2018 in Singapore.

The book gives lawyers and businesses practical information on how foreign judgments in civil and commercial matters are recognised in various jurisdictions in Asia, and the requirements for enforcing these judgments.

This is part of an initiative to harmonise rules on enforcing foreign judgments in Asia as the region moves towards closer economic integration and increasing cross-border trade.

The publication is the first study of its kind that covers the laws of all Asean countries and the major Asian economies of China, India, Japan, South Korea and Australia.

Drew & Napier is a founding partner of ABLI which was established in 2016. ABLI is a research institute aimed at ensuring that Asian business law keeps up with the accelerating pace of economic integration in the region.
