Davinder Singh SC named Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year, Drew sweeps litigation awards at ALB SEA Law Awards 2018

Executive Chairman Davinder Singh, SC was named Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year at the annual Asian Legal Business (ALB) SE Asia Law Awards 2018 tonight. The award was presented in recognition of Mr Singh’s outstanding performance and significant contribution to the evolving legal landscape of the Southeast Asia region. Mr Singh beat nine other contenders to win this title.

Drew & Napier also won the Regional Litigation Law Firm of the Year award and Singapore Litigation Law Firm of the Year award. We have been the sole recipient of the latter title for the past 14 years since the inception of the awards, cementing our reputation as undisputed leaders in this field.

The firm bagged two “Deal of the Year” awards for our involvement in high value, complex corporate work. They were: Debt Market Deal of the Year (Premium) award for Bumi Resources' Global Debt Restructuring and M&A Deal of the Year (Premium) for the Privatisation of Global Logistic Properties.

The deal involving Bumi Resources' Global Debt Restructuring was led by Sushil Nair, Deputy CEO and co-head of Drew & Napier’s Corporate Restructuring & Workout practice group. This billion-dollar restructuring was among the largest debt restructuring transaction in Indonesia and in Southeast Asia in 2017.

The deal involving the Privatisation of Global Logistic Properties was led by Director Steven Lo, Head of the Corporate/M&A practice. This transaction is Asia's largest private equity buyout and one of the more significant public M&A transactions in Singapore in recent times. The deal was also named M&A Deal of the Year: Southeast Asia at the Asian Lawyer’s Asia Legal Awards 2018.
