Managing Director of Intellectual Property Tony Yeo and Associate Director Yuen Kit Kuan co-authored a thought-provoking article in the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) Practitioner titled "Trademarks that are well known to the public at large in Singapore: A review of the evidentiary landscape.”
In the article, Tony and Kit Kuan examine the high evidentiary threshold in Singapore for a trademark to be deemed “well known to the public at large” and its legal significance under the Trade Marks Act. They analyse key cases, including Google LLC v Green Radar (Gmail) and Bytedance Ltd v Dol Technology (TikTok), which illustrate the courts’ evolving approach to assessing public recognition of trademarks.
