Director Priscilla Wang featured in ALB on the role of ESG in M&A

22 Oct 2026

Director Priscilla Wang recently shared her insights with Asian Legal Business (ALB) on how ESG is reshaping M&A across Singapore and the region.

In the article, Priscilla discusses how ESG has evolved beyond its traditional focus on compliance and risk to become a key consideration in M&A valuations. A company’s ESG performance can affect its value and create opportunities for operational efficiencies. Those with strong ESG practices may command a premium, while weaker practices could result in valuation discounts due to potential risks.

Priscilla also highlights the importance of assessing the nature and severity of ESG risks identified during due diligence. While some may be addressed after completion, more serious concerns such as supply chain labour violations or exposure to physical climate risks could affect pricing and deal terms.

Looking ahead, Priscilla expects tightening disclosure requirements, heightened investor expectations and more sophisticated due diligence to make ESG an increasingly integral part of M&A.
