PDPC issues advisory guidelines for the telecommunication and real estate agency sectors

On 16 May 2014, the Personal Data Protection Commission (“PDPC”) issued the finalised:  

• Advisory Guidelines for the Telecommunication Sector; and
• Advisory Guidelines for the Real Estate Agency Sector,

which illustrate how the Personal Data Protection Act (“PDPA”) applies to scenarios faced in each sector.

The Info-Communications Development Authority of Singapore (“IDA”) also issued its decision on the proposed amendments to the End User Service Information (“EUSI”) Provisions in the Telecoms Competition Code 2012 on the same day. IDA’s decision clarifies the framework governing EUSI in the context of the updates to the PDPA.

This legal update discusses the finalised Advisory Guidelines on the PDPA for the Telecommunication Sector and the Real Estate Sector, as well as IDA’s decision on the proposed amendments to the EUSI provisions in the Telecoms Competition Code 2012.
