Head of Banking & Financial Disputes, Benedict Teo and Director Tham Feei Sy co-authored the eighth edition of the Lexology In-Depth: Banking Litigation, Singapore chapter. The annual guide, written by legal practitioners from leading law firms worldwide, covers legal and regulatory developments, issues, and trends relating to banking litigation across key jurisdictions globally

The Singapore chapter explores recent court cases in Singapore involving letters of credit, banking secrecy and the bankers' books exception, non-reliance clauses, garnishing of joint bank accounts, and sanctions clauses, among others.

It also examines legislative developments arising from high profile money laundering prosecutions such as the recently passed Anti-Money Laundering and Other Matters Act and new offences under the Corruption, Drug Trafficking, and Other Serious Crimes Act.

The chapter also discusses other issues and future trends in banking litigation, including interim measures, privilege and professional secrecy and conflicts of law, in light of Singapore’s constantly evolving banking regulatory and legal landscape.
