GAR Know-How: Investment Treaty Arbitration 2025 – Singapore chapter by Drew & Napier

12 Nov 2025

Directors Gerui Lim, Foo Yuet Min, Mahesh Rai, and Tan Yuan Kheng co-authored the first Singapore chapter in the Global Arbitration Review (GAR) Know-How: Investment Treaty Arbitration 2025.

The chapter provides detailed insights into investment treaty arbitration in Singapore. It covers key topics such as the country’s investment treaty programme, qualifying criteria for investors, and the substantive protections available. It also examines procedural rights under Singapore’s investment treaties, the practicalities of commencing and enforcing a claim against Singapore, relevant national legislation protecting inward and outward investments, as well as awards involving Singapore’s investment treaties.

GAR Know-How: Investment Treaty Arbitration is an online cross-comparative resource offering detailed coverage of 25 jurisdictions. It features Q&A-style chapters written by leading practitioners worldwide, and users can build bespoke reports to compare how key issues are addressed across different countries. The 2025 edition introduces the inaugural Singapore chapter in the guide.

With appreciation to Senior Associates Belle Tan, Charlotte Tang, and Elisabeth Liang for their valuable contributions to the chapter.
