Ethical Guidelines for Human Biomedical Research Legislation in Singapore

In the November 2012 issue of Asian Legal Business (p.25), Co-head of Drew & Napier’sHealthcare & Life Sciences, Benjamin Gaw, offered insight to the key recommendations of the Singapore Bioethics Advisory Committee on its draft Ethics Guidelines for Human Biomedical Research. Some of them are:

  • Establishing an appeal mechanism to assist Principal Investigators
  • Specific and general consent of participants
  • Consent from children
  • Informing participants of incidental findings
  • Impact of the Personal Data Protection Act on the Guidelines
