COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020

On 7 April 2020, the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020 (the COVID-19 Act) was passed by the Singapore Parliament.

The COVID-19 Act is a novel legislation borne out of necessity in light of the challenging global circumstances arising from the pandemic.

We set out the policy considerations underpinning the COVID-19 Act, as well as further details on the operation of the COVID-19 Act, which is targeted to offer temporary relief to businesses and individuals who are unable to fulfil their contractual obligations because of COVID-19.
