Ton is a dual qualified (English and Dutch) corporate, restructuring and project development lawyer with a strong reputation (recognised with rankings in The Legal 500 every year since 2020) in the upstream, renewables, FPSO, agri, infrastructure, logistics, ports and terminals sectors in frontier and emerging markets in Africa, the Middle East and in Asia.
After more than eight years in private practice with a global law firm (in New York, Singapore, Amsterdam and Jakarta), Ton moved in-house to become the General Counsel of a privately owned FPSO owner and oil & gas contractor. In the summer of 2013, Ton assumed the role of GC of a listed global terminal operator with headquarters in the Philippines. Returning to private practice in 2017, Ton served as managing partner of an international firm’s Singapore office and later as partner at a global firm before joining Drew & Napier.
Ton’s experience includes advising:
- an upstream company on the FPSO aspects of the USD 4.2 billion Sangomar field development offshore Senegal
- A global port operator on a tender to takeover and develop four container terminals in Indonesia
- an FPSO operator on the deployment and USD 180m project financing of the FPSO “Glas Dowr” for Eni’s Kitan project in the Joint Petroleum Development Area (JPDA) offshore between Australia and Timor-Leste
- A European contractor on an offshore wind project off the coast of Changhua in Taiwan
- A global terminal operator on the development of the first dry port in the Philippines
