26 March 2026

In November 2025, Parliament passed the Online Safety (Relief and Accountability) Bill. The upcoming Act will significantly reshape how online harms are addressed, and will introduce new remedies for individuals and enhanced accountability obligations for technology platforms and other online intermediaries. In anticipation of the Act coming into force this year, this webinar is designed to provide you with an overview of key rights and obligations under the Act, with a particular focus on what its application will mean in practice for victims and affected businesses.

In this webinar, we will take you through the following:

  • Introducing the 13 technology-neutral online harmful activities under the Act, and which ones will have the status of statutory torts.
  • Looking at how the Act fits into the wider regulatory landscape in Singapore, exploring the ways in which it complements the operation of existing laws.
  • Statutory torts and duties created vis-à-vis communicators, administrators, and online service providers, and what is the standard of reasonable care expected of them.
  • Powers of the Online Safety Commission to issue various directions and orders, and how these powers enable them to assist victims in seeking effective and swift relief.
  • Rights and remedies available to victims, and what steps affected businesses can take to ensure compliance with the Act. The key takeaway would be practical tips on how to prepare early and adapt internal governance policies and frameworks before the new regime comes into force.
