When Noise Makes Privacy Differential

07 March 2024

Differential privacy is a powerful framework to manage the amount of information which is acceptable to leak when data is shared or published. While 'noise' is a key component to differential privacy, one of the typical over-simplifications is that differential privacy is 'just adding some noise to the data'. In this webinar, we will look at the power of 'noise' in general, and how it applies in particular to differential privacy. This webinar is not a technical session on the nuts and bolts of implementing differential privacy, but addresses the responsibility a DPO, compliance officer, or project manager has when making the crucial decision what and how much noise their data team or technical department will apply.
