Drew & Napier won the TMT Deal of the Year award for acting in the joint venture between IronNet Cybersecurity and Ensign InfoSecurity at the 2020 Asia Legal Awards on Tuesday, 8 September.
The deal was led jointly by Directors Lim Chong Kin and Benjamin Gaw, and supported by Senior Associate Loo Ming Jie, who advised IronNet on all Singapore law matters in relation to the joint venture, and its entry into Singapore.
IronNet Cybersecurity, Inc. (IronNet), a cutting-edge cybersecurity specialist firm with its headquarters in the USA, was founded by CEO and retired general Keith B. Alexander, who was formerly Director, National Security Agency and Chief, Central Security Service. He was also formerly Commander, United States Cyber Command. Ensign InfoSecurity (Ensign), with its headquarters in Singapore, is one of Asia Pacific’s largest pure-play cybersecurity firms. It was established in 2018 as a joint venture between Temasek Holdings and Starhub. On 18 March 2019, Ensign and IronNet announced their joint-venture Cyber Analytics Centre for Excellence. The joint venture comes at a time when cybersecurity is a priority of the Singapore Government, which has launched a series of initiatives to build up Singapore’s cybersecurity capabilities across the private and public sectors.
The joint-venture centre is based in Singapore and aims to equip government entities and organisations operating in Singapore and across Asia Pacific with the most advanced cyber security and collective defence solutions to secure critical infrastructure against sophisticated and coordinated cyberattacks. It will also focus on elevating the capabilities and expertise of home grown cybersecurity talents and professionals in Singapore, developing innovative custom cybersecurity solutions and services for Singapore and Asia Pacific, and facilitate secure and strong industry sector and cross-sector cyber intelligence sharing between Ensign and IronNet.
