The recent Court of Appeal decision in IPP Financial Advisers Pte Ltd v Saimee bin Jumaat  SGCA 47 has brought much needed clarity in the face of divergent and contradictory Commonwealth decisions on how a limitation period should be calculated, and when a cause of action is deemed to have “accrued”. It serves as a timely reminder that individuals who have a viable cause of action should not dally on their claim, lest their claim be shut out by virtue of a time bar.
