Fiona is actively engaged in a wide range of complex civil litigation and international arbitration matters. Her experience includes disputes relating to high value commercial contracts, insolvency, employment, equity and trusts, banking and finance, company law and the enforcement of arbitration awards.

Fiona graduated from the Singapore Management University (SMU) and was placed Joint Fourth in the Singapore Bar exams out of a cohort of 679 candidates. During her time at SMU, she was awarded the Rodyk Prize for Top Student in Legal Research & Writing 2011-12 (Joint Winner). She was also placed on the Dean’s List for Academic Years 2012-13 and 2014-15. She represented SMU in the 2015 Monroe E Price Media Law Moot Court Competition, where her team emerged 1st-runners-up overall in the International Rounds in Oxford University.

Fiona was appointed as Young Amicus Curiae in [2021] SGHC 173 to address the High Court on a novel issue of law relating to freezing orders.

Some of the matters in which Fiona has acted include the following:

  • Acting for the liquidators of Hin Leong Trading in the largest reported fraudulent trading case in Singapore, seeking recovery of over US$3.5 billion from the directors of the company. The dispute includes claims of fabrication of gains, forgery of documents and manipulation of accounts to conceal massive losses sustained by the company over many years.

  • Acting for a former Prime Minister of Georgia and his family in a complex trust dispute against a professional trustee of a US$1.1 billion trust. Successfully resisted the defendant’s jurisdictional challenge before the Court of Appeal in [2020] SGCA 62.

  • Acting for a well-known Japanese multinational corporation in an international arbitration against a Hong Kong entity arising out of a contractual relationship exceeding US$2 billion in value. The dispute involved emergency arbitrator proceedings and related Court litigation spanning multiple jurisdictions.

  • Successfully defending a global investment bank headquartered in Switzerland in proceedings before the Court of Appeal against claims in excess of S$20 million brought by a BVI private banking customer for investment losses arising from accumulator transactions.

  • Acting for the managing director of a leading dairy and beverage company in one of the highest value minority oppression cases reported in Singapore. The matter dealt with novel issues of law relating to minority oppression in traditional family companies.
