About Yvonne
Yvonne is a Director in the Intellectual Property Department. She joined Drew & Napier in 1999 as an Associate.
Areas of Practice
Yvonne handles both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters. Her focus area in contentious matters include trade mark infringement and opposition proceedings, passing off cases, copyright infringements and domain name recovery under the Singapore Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (SDRP). In respect of non-contentious matters, Yvonne is experienced in pre and post trade mark registration matters, as well as corporate IP matters, such as the drafting and review of licensing and franchise agreements relating to intellectual property assets.

A copyright infringement action involving unauthorized use of maps on a website (Virtual Map (Singapore) Pte Ltd v Singapore Land Authority and Anor [2009] SGCA2)

A trade mark opposition case on appeal to the Court of Appeal involving the registration of a trade mark “MacCoffee” in light of an earlier trade mark “McCAFE” (Future Enterprises Pte Ltd v McDonald’s Corporation [2007] SGCA 18)

A passing off action involving the trading name of a local company (Lifestyle 1.99 Pte Ltd v S$1.99 Pte Ltd [2000] 2 SLR 766)

A private criminal summons action for trade mark offences involving counterfeit motorcycle accessories (PSS 1629/99: PP v Ong Choon Kin)

Domain name recovery under the SDRP for “samsungmobile.com.sg” (SDRP-2002-0004(F))

Trade Mark Oppositions involving the registration of the “Milkbears” trade mark in light of an earlier “Milky Bar” trade mark for candy and chocolate products ([2003] SGIPOS 2), and the registration of the mark “Action One A1” in colour with a device, in light of an earlier “Action One & device” trade mark for spices ([2005] SGIPOS 13)
