About Randolph

Randolph graduated with academic prizes, topping the final examination and the public international law course, at National University of Singapore (NUS). He served on the editorial board of the Singapore Law Review, and as an adjunct tutor for advocacy and professional responsibility at NUS. He joined Drew & Napier in 1990 and became a partner in 1995. Since corporatisation on 1 May 2001 he has been a director of Drew & Napier LLC. Randolph currently co-heads the firm’s China Dispute Resolution Practice Group.

Areas of Practice

Randolph practises as an advocate, specializing in International & Domestic Arbitration, Company, Contract law, Shareholder, Family asset and Employment Law disputes.

Experience

The matters Randolph has been involved in include:
  • A joint venture dispute involving US and Japanese partners of a Johore resort project.
    Advising on civil litigation and trial in mainland China arising from legal action between investors.
    Acting in arbitrations and legal actions for and against mainland Chinese corporations.
    Acting for Chinese investors in litigation arising from investment agreements relating to purchase of shares in a listed company in Singapore.
    An arbitration between a power generation company and an Indian State power corporation.
    Acting for a number of different clients in claims made against them for injunctive relief and asset-freezing orders in conjunction with civil proceedings abroad in Russia, Switzerland and the United States.
    A long civil litigation spanning 3 years relating to a construction company involving substantial claims of an aggregate of approximately $50 million between the parties.
    Disputes between Indian investors in a Singapore company involving issues of conflicting arbitration and civil litigation issues.
    A trial to enforce a 40-odd year old resulting trust over land.
    A series of court claims for exercise of corporate share options.
    An arbitration involving a multi-million dollar power plant project between North American and Singapore interests.
    Arbitrations involving Indonesian and American interests with respect to industrial machinery.
    Litigation involving land rights and easements.
    A medical negligence action leading to a substantial financial settlement.
    International asset freezing injunction cases between US, Singapore and Indonesian parties.
    A range of landmark family law cases involving points of law on dissolution of marriage, custody and division of assets and tracing of assets.
    Acting in complex multi-jurisdictional international divorce, family asset and child welfare litigation.
    Building and negligence claims involving a local hotel and the Singapore-Malaysia Tuas 2nd Link.
  • Advising on the fallout from a major public telecommunication tender.
Appointments / Memberships

Randolph is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the International Bar Association, Society of International Law (Singapore), Law Society of Singapore and the Singapore Academy of Law. He is also a Notary Public and Commissioner for Oaths and a Panel Arbitrator under the Law Society Arbitration Scheme.
