About Kelvin
Kelvin joined Drew & Napier in 1995, and is a Director in the Dispute Resolution Department.
Areas of Practice
Kelvin practices corporate and commercial litigation in the Singapore Courts as well as in international arbitrations. Kelvin handles a wide range of dispute resolution work, from corporate and commercial disputes, employment disputes, insurance matters, intellectual property litigation, and trust and estate litigation.

Corporate and Commercial Litigation
- Acting in a multi-million distributorship dispute between two public-listed conglomerates.
- Acting for a foreign bank and successfully discharging an injunction to restrain the enforcement of a standby letter of credit issued on behalf of a foreign company.
- A multi-million dollar claim against the former director of a major company in the health supplements business.
- Acting for a senior solicitor in resisting multiple claims alleging fraud and breaches of duties as a fiduciary, solicitor and trustee in relation to foreign property transactions.
- Acting for the majority shareholder in an oppression action involving the holding company of a public-listed corporation.
- Acting for venture capital principals in a large cross-jurisdictional supply chain dispute and formulating strategy for the shift of supply chain and exit plan.
Employment
- Acting for a multi-national company in respect of claims under its employee pension scheme.
- Acting for a former director to declare the unenforceability of restraints of trade.
- Acting for a former director in the defence of claims for breaches of fiduciary duties and discharging a worldwide freezing order.
- Acting for a senior employee in the defence of claims for breaches of fiduciary and fidelity duties and obtaining the discharge of an Anton Piller order.
Insurance
- External counsel for insurance companies, advising on a variety of non-personal injury issues, including Insurance Act, MAS and LIA guidelines, and other statutory and regulatory matters, and claims issues.
- Acting for a well-known insurance company against financial advisers for breaches of insurance regulations and guidelines, fiduciary duties and contractual obligations to the company.
- Acting for an insurance brokerage on insurance regulatory and fiduciary duty issues relating to the conduct of a senior director.
Intellectual Property and Product Regulation
- Acting in claim for passing off involving leading parties in the leisure and hospitality industry, raising issues of cross-market goodwill.
- Successfully taking civil and criminal copyright enforcement actions for a major American software company.
- Prosecution of criminal complaints and procuring the issuance of search warrants in intellectual property infringement cases.
- Advising a leading internet portal business in respect of the statutory and regulatory environment pertaining to its operations in the South-east Asian region.
International Arbitration and Cross-border Litigation
- Acting in a cross-jurisdictional dispute involving a leading American computer manufacturer in the High Court in Singapore.
- Acting for a European principal in a multi-jurisdictional dispute over the origination and use of a health product trade mark around the world.
- Acting for a top American medical school in international arbitration proceedings to enforce an agreement for the establishment of a medical school in the Philippines.
- Acting for a major South-east Asian commodities trading company in international arbitration proceedings involving the breach of an international trade contract.
- Acting for a South Asian client to uphold a determination of jurisdiction in international arbitration proceedings, in an appeal before the Singapore Courts.
Trust and Estate (Contentious)
- Advising professional trustees in the administration of an estate valued in excess of $100 million, including applications to court for orders to allow the exercise of various trustees’ powers.
- Acting for the beneficiaries of a multi-million dollar estate to resist a claim for survivorship of certain bank accounts and other assets.
- Acting for beneficiaries in obtaining orders for accounts, investigations into trustees’ conduct, and the tracing of assets.
