Admitted to the English Bar in 1956 and to the Singapore Bar in 1957
Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court, Singapore from 1987 to 1989.

About Joe Grimberg

Joe Grimberg joined Drew & Napier in 1957 and was made a Partner in 1967. He was Senior Partner from 1967 to 1987. He was appointed Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court, Singapore, in 1987. In 1989, he re-joined Drew & Napier as a Consultant.

Areas of Practice

He has an active practice as Arbitrator and Mediator in a wide variety of disputes.

Experience (Litigation)

In the course of his career, Joe Grimberg has been involved in, or presided over, a wide spectrum of general and commercial cases, including representation of the President of the Republic of Singapore in a Constitutional Reference where an issue of interpretation of the Constitution was referred for determination (the only case of its kind so far referred to the Constitutional Court); major banking, shipping, defamation, intellectual property, corporate, insolvency and property cases.

Experience (Arbitration)

Joe Grimberg has, since re-joining Drew & Napier as a Consultant in 1989, presided as arbitrator in both domestic and international arbitrations, administered by the ICC Paris, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, and the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration. He has also arbitrated in numerous non-administered domestic arbitrations and is regularly engaged as a mediator in disputes referred to the Singapore Mediation Centre.
