About David

David is a Director in the Corporate and Finance Department and is the head of the China Desk. He joined Drew & Napier in 1985 and became a partner in 1992. He has been a director since Drew & Napier LLC corporatised on 1 May 2001. For 8 consecutive years, David has been named by Asia Pacific Legal 500, an international legal publication, as a leading Real Estate lawyer.

Experience

Matters David has handled include:

  • Acted for:
    • Banks and financial institutions, individual clients and property development companies
    • Purchasers/sellers of JTC industrial property
    • The developer of CHIJMES, a conservation/restoration development featuring commercial and retail outlets and a monument
    • Sellers in numerous collective “en-bloc” sales including the first such transaction in Singapore and largest (of its time), both in terms of the number of sellers and the value of the land
    • Foreign property developers in sales of overseas properties to Singapore buyers
  • Representation of developer of mixed development:
    • Handling legal work relating to combined commercial and residential development, including applications for approvals, subdivision and separate titles and preparation of sale and purchase agreements and leases
  • Representation of local developers:
    • Handling residential development projects comprising condominium, semi-detached and detached houses
  • HDB Shoplease Financing Scheme when it was first launched
  • Preparation and registration of Memoranda of Mortgage and drafting standard Terms and Conditions governing secured loans for financial institutions
  • Statutory Vesting of various parcels of lands in Singapore
  • Representation of statutory boards
  • Acquisition of industrial properties (including Jurong Town Corporation (“JTC”) properties) and handling “change of use” applications and negotiations
