Cecelia joined the Intellectual Property Department of Drew & Napier in 1986 as a Legal Executive. She left the firm to read law in December 1991 and rejoined the firm as a lawyer in 1996. Cecelia became a Partner in January 2000 and an Associate Director of Drew & Napier LLC after corporatisation on 1 May 2001. She became a Director in May 2003.

Cecelia’s primary area of practice is in Intellectual Property, which includes Trademarks, Patents, Domain Name registration and enforcement, Trademark Oppositions, Copyright and Design, and all aspects of Intellectual Property Litigation. She is part of the “sterling team” as described by Asia Pacific Legal 500 2007/2008 and “stands out” in particular for her work in patents registration.

Cecelia has extensive experience in trademark and patent registration, oppositions and enforcement, and she has also been involved in Intellectual Property as well as general civil and commercial litigation matters. These include:

Representation of a large international pharmaceutical company on an appeal to the Court of Appeal from the Registrar’s decision not to allow the application for a patent filed outside the statutory periods

Representation of a large international concern in an action for breach of contract
Representation of a Singapore company in proceedings to strike out an appeal against a decision of the Registrar of Companies to allow use of a company name
