About Abraham

Abraham joined Drew & Napier LLC in 1998 and is a Director in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department. In 2002, Abraham was seconded to the London office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he specialised in international arbitration and construction. During his time in London, Abraham also assisted Queen’s Counsel in hearings before the House of Lords and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.

Areas of Practice

Abraham has a diverse practice in the areas of civil, commercial and criminal litigation, with an emphasis on construction and engineering issues and commercial disputes. He also has considerable experience in arbitration work, both domestic and international.

Experience

Some of the notable cases Abraham has handled include:

  • 65-day multi-party trial in the High Court involving claims for fraud and misrepresentation in relation to a US$40 million take-over of a foreign public-listed company.
  • LCIA arbitration in London concerning the termination of a distribution agreement between a Malaysian principal and its German distributor involving claims of over US$60 million.
  • ICC arbitration in Bangkok concerning the termination of a distribution agreement between a Japanese principal and its Thai distributor involving claims of US$14 million.
  • 80-day multi-party construction arbitration referred out of the Singapore High Court concerning the collapse of one of the world’s tallest cement silos and involving claims of over S$24 million. This matter featured complex civil and structural engineering issues addressed by an international panel of 14 expert witnesses.
  • Appeal to the Court of Appeal on a novel point of law concerning claims of S$18 million for notional consequential losses following a novus actus interveniens.
  • 20-day criminal trial involving a lawyer charged with two counts of abetment to commit perjury, resulting in an acquittal for the client.
