Experience:

  • Conducting the appeals against the conviction and sentence of two directors of the top marine fuel oil suppliers in Singapore, who were convicted under Section 6 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, in respect of the supply of marine fuel oil to ships and their role and involvement with surveyors. Both cases were part of a high profile operation by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau and the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore.
  • Defending a managing director of a Singapore-listed company against alleged offences under the Securities Industry Act (now known as the Securities and Futures Act) based on charges of alleged market manipulation, and making of alleged false and misleading statements in a public announcement to the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited.
  • Representing a multi-national company in the National Kidney Foundation (“NKF”) related investigations commenced by the Commercial Affairs Department and the Corrupt Practice Investigation Bureau.
  • Represented one of the daughters of the late Tan Sri Khoo Teck Puat in a landmark corporate governance case regarding fiduciary duties and non-disclosures under the Securities and Futures Act and Companies Act.
  • Representing the former Chief Executive Officer of CrimsonLogic Pte Ltd in a corruption trial involving issues of corporate governance and alleged corruption.
  • Representing Asia Pulp & Paper in relation to criminal investigations by the Commercial Affairs Department regarding allegations of cross border commercial fraud.
  • Lead counsel for the trial of a former Advocate & Solicitor, Singapore, in a banking fraud case involving major local banks. The amounts involved were in excess of $3 million.
  • Acted for Info-Comm Development Authority of Singapore (“IDA”) in prosecutorial work involving regulatory offences under the Telecommunication Act.
  • Acted for listed company- Datacraft in securities-related investigations commenced by the Commercial Affairs Department.
  • Acted for the family of the late "King of Serangoon Road" in relation to banking fraud charges.
  • Acted for insurance broker in relation to regulatory breaches and mutual assistance with the Crown Prosecution Service on alleged trans-national insurance fraud.
  • Acted for StarHub Cable Vision Limited in prosecuting regulatory offences under the Broadcasting Act.
  • Represented an Advocate & Solicitor, Singapore, who was charged with insider trading for communicating price-sensitive information involving a takeover deal to another.
