Cavinder Bull, SC successfully represented supplier Scelta Marble Australia in an arbitration with Italian marble company, Quarella, and at the High Court proceedings.
Justice Judith Prakash dismissed Quarella's arguments that a sole arbitrator had disregarded a choice-of-law clause in the parties' distributorship agreement in holding that the arbitration should be governed by Italian law.
Quarella had requested to set aside two ICC awards in favour of Scelta.
Mr Bull said the decision “reinforces the robust pro-arbitration stance of the Singapore courts”.
