Drew & Napier lawyers beat 27 local and international teams in prestigious moot court competition

7 Jan 2015

Local law firm Drew & Napier LLC once again won the prestigious Essex Court Chambers - SAL International Mooting Competition. This championship marks the second win by Drew & Napier in the competition.

Drew & Napier lawyers Mr. Raeza Ibrahim, 28, and Miss Sadhana Rai, 27, beat 27 teams from countries including Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, and Malaysia at the competition, which gives young lawyers the opportunity to showcase and hone their advocacy skills.

In the final round at the Supreme Court on 6 January 2015, Drew & Napier defeated a mixed team from Baker & McKenzie, Wong & Leow and Michael Hwang Chambers.

The teams presented arguments about the implication of terms in contracts and the availability of an account of profits as a remedy for breach of confidence before a distinguished judging panel comprising of Justice Vinodh Coomaraswamy, Mr. Gourab Banerji SA and Mr. Roderick Cordara QC.

Praising the pair for their high calibre, Justice Coomaraswamy said he was very impressed and noted that they were "very able" and "of significant talent".

In addition, Mr. Ibrahim and Miss Rai were named Best Oralists in separate rounds.
