Training at Drew
The Drew Traineeship Programme focuses on developing outstanding competence in legal skills and building a firm foundation for legal practice. We work hard to create an environment for our trainees to stretch their capabilities and to develop into a ‘complete lawyer’. Our trainees graduate as knowledgeable, well-rounded, and polished lawyers.
Where you fit in.
At Drew & Napier, you will be part of a team of individuals. We are well known for our strong firm culture, and for being a place where people look out for one another. We pride ourselves on our collegiate sensibility. Our doors are always open for advice, guidance and a chat.
A rounded exposure.
We believe in exposing you to different areas of practice. You will be rotated to different departments or practice areas. During your rotation, you will get to work with lawyers with a different professional focus from your primary team.
We want to share our knowledge and experience with you. Drew’s Traineeship Programme exposes you to the full range of critical legal skills. Hone your skills in research, drafting and managing files through your involvement in a broad range of high quality work handled by Singapore’s leading lawyers.
Your supervising solicitor and mentor. Just a few doors away.
We expect you to rise to the challenges of top-tier legal practice, but we don’t expect you to do it alone.
We pair you with a supervising solicitor and a mentor who will take a personal interest in you and your professional development. Your mentor will be experienced in the rigours and expectations of legal practice, but will have walked in your shoes fairly recently and relate to your position. Together, your supervising solicitor and mentor will ensure that you are exposed to work that is interesting and challenging and provide advice when you need it.
What we look for
What makes you unique.
While we look out for trainees with strong academic background, we appreciate that there is more to you than your credentials. We appreciate professionalism and drive, and actively seek out well-rounded candidates with a variety of interests. As a firm, we embrace the varied interests of our lawyers outside of work and encourage you to pursue them.
Compensation and benefits
We offer a generous honorarium and medical benefits for the duration of your training contract and your Part B Bar Examination course.
Part of our commitment to you involves easing your financial burden by reimbursing your Part B Bar Course fees on completion of your traineeship with us. We also reimburse to you all costs associated with registering and electronic filing of court papers needed for your admission to the Bar.
